Improving the Performance of Rigid Pavements by Using Modern Methods in Layer Optimization
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article seeks to identify and analyze the modern methods implemented to date to improve the structure of rigid pavements and achieve optimal long-term performance. To achieve this objective, an investigation was carried out in which 30 articles were selected following inclusion and exclusion criteria. These articles cover aspects related to the design, construction and maintenance of rigid pavements. During the analysis carried out, it was found that there are various techniques and approaches available to address the improvement of rigid pavements. It was observed that seemingly insignificant factors, such as weather conditions and heavy traffic, can have a significant impact on the life and performance of these pavements as time passes and loading is repeated. Among the methods identified, innovative approaches were found that involve the use of new materials, advanced design techniques, efficient construction methods and preventive maintenance strategies. These methods seek to guarantee the durability, resistance and load capacity of rigid pavements, as well as minimize the negative effects of aging and wear. The study highlights the importance of properly implementing these modern methods in the planning and execution of rigid paving projects. Applying effective design and construction practices, as well as an appropriate maintenance program, can extend the life of rigid pavements and ensure better long-term performance.
